Prisms
02:42
|
|||
I take a sip
from an old jelly jar
strawberries once lived here
I wonder where they are now
how deep is this hole
and what stories to tell
if your prisms could talk
would they tell me your secrets
would they talk your sweet talk
I'm out in the woods now
I construct rock piles
and place them all over the stream
for the robots to unearth
while our sleep constructs
an artificial dream
I wish you could see
what it is I see
but your sensors fried
you've now only the moment
before it's gone and died
overwritten by the onset
of the ever present moment
once I nearly touched
the elusive in-between

Liquid Gold
02:11
|
|||
what do you think
of where we are now
all our years going by
when I'm outside my window
I stop to get a beer
object made of water
my wallet going dry
when I wander the creak bed
and you stop to say goodbye
you said "i once struck love like liquid gold
why didn’t you notice?"
now I walk by your window
and I don’t say hello
ed’s auto parts
this is an ad for ed’s
when I’m outside my window
sometimes I walk by the store

Hummingbird
02:02
|
|||
all in due time
it's always on my mind
the way my daddy dozed away
into that ephemeral place
for which no one knows
the name
we chat in bed
about faith and random chance
which one does rule the universe is still anyone's guess
but it seems your minds made up
there has to be a way
to be relieved of all this burden
as the hummingbird does make its way
from place to place
knowing its duty
not knowing it's purpose
well I'm on my way
just not sure where I'm going

Old Spot
02:15
|
|||
mostly faces blur
i can't make them out
they're hazy memories
like photographs
worn down
would you drive me around the block
we could drive up north
and scope out our old spot
jump off the dock
you could dare me
to swim across the lake
last time I tried
I nearly drowned
only made it half way

Hourglass
03:48
|
|||
struck up a conversation
about the art
of improvisation
what kind of love would it take
to keep you coming back for more
time does test us in mysterious ways
spilled out of the hourglass
and onto the table
just like my dear old's
fluttering soul
oh but I was lost
even when you were here
I'm still longing for something
so clear
struck up a conversation
about what I've lacked
in inspiration
a blossoming flower
drying out in the sun
thirst begets you a cause
for moving on
what kind of love would it take
to keep you coming back for more
long after
the doors closed
